The BC Emergency Medicine Network is primarily a website used by Emergency Personnel (doctors, nurses, etc) to keep up to date with each other and the latest news in emergency medicine. As a Patient Partner, I review documents and participate in advisory council meetings to lend a voice to the conversations they are having about how to best support US, the patients, in British Columbia.
For health care providers, or those of us who are just medical nerds, the website also has a vast amount of resources such as procedural videos, simulations, information sheets and their very own podcast titled “End of Shift“. If you are a doctor or nurse in emergency medicine, you may want to join up for the benefits of newsletters and access to the forums.
Patient Discharge Sheets:

After a visit to the hospital, how many times have you wondered what you were supposed to do next? These information sheets provide information about your diagnosis, aftercare, support available and more. Even if you haven’t been to an ER, you may find helpful information for yourself here, or someone you care about.
Useful Apps and Websites:

A bit hard to find on your own within the site (from the Main menu choose Clinical Resources and then Websites and Apps), but lists some pretty great tools such as BC Emergency Room Wait Times and a Canadian Red Cross First Aid app you can keep on your phone that walks you through first aid emergency scenarios.
